CAMERA
AND LENS REPAIRS
COMPACT DIGITAL CAMERAS: The most common faults
we come across on these units is usually either cracked LCD screens
and/or damaged or jammed lens units. Due to the low prices of new
cameras these days, some of our customers are opting to replace their
damaged cameras with a new one, instead of paying out on a seemingly
high repair cost. For an example we expect a repair to an average
digital camera with a small zoom with either of the above faults
to total at least £120.00 including VAT. So if that camera can be
replaced for under £200.00, can you blame them.
DIGITAL SLR CAMERAS: These cameras are generally
robust and reliable, but they do need attention from time to time.
The most common problem is dust or marks on the low-pass filter
in front of the sensor. This problem is normally noticed when small
darker areas appear in your image, this will be more noticeable
in images such as shots with large areas of blue sky in them. So
if this problem requires the low-pass filter to be cleaned, this
servive starts at £35.00 for cleaning away several particles
of dust, if the there are any grease spots or persistent dust we
may still be able to clean it in situ. If this is unsuccessful,
we may need to remove the sensor unit and
clean it out of the camera, and this will cost considerably more.
LENS REPAIRS: We also take in lenses for repair,
the main faults we see on these are autofocus and iris faults. You can expect
to be paying at least £100.00 to repair one of these modern lenses, so obviously
it may not be economical to repair some lenses.
